Sub: Opening of Savings Bank Accounts for women/children under PO SB   schemes-reg.

The Gender Budget Cell of the Department of Post has suggested opening of Savings Bank Account for women and girls by conducting a Special Drive in the ensuing year.

For this purpose, Directorate has desired to approach Girl schools, Colleges, PG Hostels (girls), Panchayats, Anganwadi kendras, Self Help Groups and other Women organizations and encourage  opening of SB accounts.  Specific Occasions like Women/Children day may also be used for this purpose.

A strategy may be devised by each office for this purpose and a report is expected to be mailed every fortnight to this office in turn to RO/CO. 

Walk – in - Customers may also be asked to open an account if they have no SB Account  in that office.  Mothers may be asked to open accounts in  their Children’s name.  Meeting of the BPMs may be conducted and elucidate them of the scheme and appeal them to conduct such camps in their area where the SPMs can lead. HMs of the educational institution may be contacted and appraised of this scheme mooted by the cell of the Postal Department.  So also  the case of Anganwadi Kendras, Self Help Groups etc. Camps  may be organized in your locations which will help you to go nearer to the people and achieve the goal. In a way or other such scenario will make the atmosphere of the office more lively with the active participation of the staff and the Public as well.  In fact, a vibrant move will always pave way for the Success in any Endeavour and every one is expected to be part in the assignment given to us.
