Sub:- Definition of Local for speed post tariff -reg.
           

            At present for booking and delivery of LOCAL speed post articles Rs.17/- is being charged.  Speed post booked in a SO/BO and deliverable in the same SO/BO is being treated as LOCAL.  Directorate vide  letter no 57-04/2013-BD&MD dated 20.02.2014 has issued following clarification expanding the scope of the term  LOCAL for levying  speed post tariff as follows:-

            “It has now been decided by the competent authority that all the town delivery Post offices at a Speed post booking station would be treated as ‘LOCAL” for the purpose of speed post tariff “

            Accordingly following order is issued:-

PALAKKAD TOWN SOs

Speed Post Articles booked in a SO/HO under the PIN 678001 to 678014  and deliverable in any PO under the PIN 678001 to 678014 may be treated as LOCAL.  This is applicable to articles booked in a Branch Post office and deliverable in a branch Post office in the above PIN range.

CHITTUR-TATTAMANGALAM TOWN SOs

Speed Post Articles booked in a SO under the PIN 678101, 678102, 678103, 678104 and deliverable in any PO under the PIN 678101, 678102, 678103 and 678104 may be treated as LOCAL.  This is applicable to articles booked in a Branch Post office and deliverable in a branch Post office in the above PIN range.

           

Sub Postmasters of above mentioned Offices shall suitably appraise the BPMs in account with them.
