Sub:- Launch of new parcel products-Express parcel and Business parcel.

This is regarding the launch of new parcel products –Express parcel and Business parcel w e f 02-12-2013. The existing parcel product offerings are simplified and are being designed as two new products Express parcel and Business parcel which would be transported through air and surface respectively. The existing Express parcel post (EPP) would be dropped.

Express parcel is an air parcel product providing guaranteed time bound delivery of parcels. The booking and delivery of Express parcels is now limited to 20 identified cities at this stage. Thiruvananthapuram is the only identified city in the circle for the booking of express parcels by selected post offices. However bulk customers can book business parcel from the existing centers.

Business parcel will provide fast and secure transmission of parcels through surface. This service shall be available to only those customers who sign an agreement with Department to avail the service and offer minimum business. Bulk customers can book business parcels from all existing centers. All centers where booking facility for corporate customers was provided for EPP will continue to provide Business parcel service.

Hence consequent to the implementation redesigned network for parcels and the launching of new parcel products EPP service and all existing EPP Centers will be ceased w e f 02.12.2013.The gist of the SOP of Express parcel and Business parcel is enclosed in Annexure.

Necessary action may also be taken to contact all the BNPL customers of EPP and explain the features of new parcel services and keep them ready to switch over to the new parcel services by entering into fresh agreement immediately.
