Sub : Departmental Scholarship
for Technical/Non-Technical education of children of employees of Department of
Posts-2012-13

WLF/22/2/2011--12 of CPMG-TVM dtd 27.09.2013 is reproduced below.
Applications are invited from
eligible Departmental and Extra Departmental (GDS) officials of Kerala circle
for award of scholarship to the children of employees of Department of Posts,
for the year 2012-13 as detailed below
:-
(i)
Scholarship for
technical education for a Masters Degree –
( MSc. Engineering / ME/ MTech/ MD/ MDS/ M.Sc. Agriculture/ M. Vsc &
AH/ M Pharm/ M.Sc. Nursing). PG Diploma courses are not eligible.
(ii)
Scholarship for Technical education for
a Degree (B.Sc.Engg/ BE/ B.Tech/
MBBS/BDS/ B.Sc Agri/ BAMS/ B.VSc & AH/B.Pharm/ B.Sc(Nursing)/ BHMS /
Diploma in all Engineering subjects and other Polytechnical courses recognized by Central and State Government and for ITI
courses.)
(iii)
Scholarship for non-technical degree
courses
(BA, B Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA etc)
(iv)
Scholarship for non-technical education in
Fine Arts above Std XII.
(v)
Scholarship for IIT, AIIMS, IIM course from
the following institutions. (For
these, there is no restriction in salary limit)
a)
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kanpur, Kharagpur and Guwahati.
b)Institute of Technology(BHU) Varanasi.
c) All India Institute of Medical
Sciences, New Delhi.
d) Indian
Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkatta and Kozhikode.
2. Applications should be
submitted in the prescribed form through the Head of the Administrative
Office/Unit/Head Postmasters/HRO, who will forward it to the Controlling
Gazetted Officer after certifying the correctness of the particulars in Para
“A’’ of the application form.
3. The last date of receipt of
the application in Divisional Office addressed to the SSPOs, Palakkad 678001 is
30.11.2013. Applications received
after the prescribed date will not be considered. It should be ensured that the
applications are correctly filled in and the entries under Para “A’’ are
verified by HPM/HRO/Head of Administrative units concerned.
4. a)Except IIT,AIIMS and IIM
Scholarship for which there is no pay limit, no scholarship will be paid if the
basic pay of the husband or wife put
together exceeds Rs.25120/-per month.
b) If the spouse is employed a
certificate from the employer regarding salary may be forwarded with the
application.
c) Regarding physically
handicapped children, the upper pay limit of the employee and the spouse
together is Rs.29790/-per month. Medical certificate of disability is also to
be enclosed.
5. There is reservation for SC/ST
and other officials including ED(GDS) whose basic pay does not exceed
Rs.9060/-per .month.
6. For grant of Technical
education Scholarship, the minimum percentage of marks in the requisite
examination is 50%. Only such candidates need to apply.
7. For non-technical scholarship
the minimum marks required is 60% in the requisite examination. Only such candidates
need to apply.
8. There is relaxation of 10% in
the minimum marks for SC/ST/OBC and low income group of officials for
non-technical course. The minimum percentage of marks in the 12th Std and PDC examination is 50 % for the
reserved categories.
9. In the case of ED Agents
(GDS), the minimum percentage for eligibility for non-technical course will be
45% of marks secured in the 12th Standard or PDC examination. There
will be no relaxation for eligibility for technical education scholarship.
10. Scholarship will be awarded
for the education of sons and daughters only and limited to the extent of funds
available.
11. Normally, scholarship will be
sanctioned only for one ward of an official at a time. However, scholarship for
the second ward can be considered if funds are available after granting
scholarship to all eligible applicants for scholarship for first ward. In no
case scholarship for the third child would be provided from the Welfare Fund.
12. Scholarship once awarded will
run for the entire course and will be renewed after every semester/annual
examination subject to satisfactory performance as prescribed by the Department
from time to time and condition laid down in this regard.
13. Officials whose children have
been awarded scholarship during the previous years need not apply again. For
renewal of scholarship they should send the certificate from the Head of the
Institution regarding the progress of the student in the annual or semester
examination as the case may be. Technical scholarship may be renewed without
any condition of minimum marks in the examination provided that the student is
allowed to be promoted to the next higher class/semester by the University. In
case a student is detained the scholarship will be withheld only for the period
of detention and renewed once the student is promoted to the next higher
class/semester. However, if a student is detained for a second time, the
scholarship will be discontinued once for all.
14. The scholarship is awarded
strictly on the basis of marks secured by the candidate either in the
qualifying examination or any higher examination whichever is advantageous to
them.
15. The value of scholarship will
be as follows :-
a) IIT, AIIMS, IIM ` 375/-pm
b) Technical Post graduate Course `
280/- pm
b) Technical Degree Course ` 280/-pm
c) Technical Diploma Course ` 190/-pm
d) Non-Technical Degree
Course ` 150/-pm
e) ITI Certificate Course ` 950/-p/a
16. While filling part “D’’ of
the application form the percentage of marks should be worked out corrected to
two decimals. The marks obtained in all the papers prescribed for the course should
be taken into account while working out the percentage. It is imperative that
all the correspondence pertaining to scholarship should be forwarded through
the Divisional Heads/Administrative Units concerned. No action whatsoever will
be taken on correspondence sent direct to CO.
17. The prescribed proforma of
the application is enclosed. In the absence of printed application form
typed/cyclostyled form can be used.
18. Before the applications are
forwarded to this office applicants must ensure that the application form is
correctly filled in and certified to this effect by the Head of Educational
Institution/ HPM/ HRO. Attested copies
of mark lists (Mark sheet of the qualifying examination prescribed for entry to
the course and of higher examination, passed. if any, ) should be enclosed with
the applications. Candidates should obtain the prescribed minimum marks in the
qualifying examination. The Contents of this letter may please be brought to
the notice of all officials including ED agents (GDS) working under your
office.
